Lumber Rafts
This picture was taken in the area of Duboistown, Pa. around 1880. Lumber rafts were used to supply distant mills with lumber taken from the cutting area by floating them down the Susquehanna River. As can be seen they were bound together and lumber was transported as far as Harrisburg and beyond ( over 100 miles) after which they were dismantled and taken to the sawmill.

never less than 4" wide up to about 7" plus wide, lengths no longer than 8 feet and never less than ~4 feet. Longer than 8' lengths are possible but will have to be sent via common carrier.

kiln dried 6% - 8% moisture content. You may find on occasion a slightly higher surface moisture content due to environmental conditions.
