Logs waiting to be loaded on the narrow gauge railroad in the foreground. The beds for these railroads are still found in Pennsylvania woods to this day and the small trees left on the hillside in the picture are being harvested by our generation.
All lumber in the categories below is sold by the board foot with a length between 6' - 12'. Smaller shipments will be shipped via FedEx when possible and larger shipments will be shipped via LTL/Common Carrier. IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO ROUND THE ORDERED BOARD FOOTAGE UP TO A HIGHER NUMBER WHEN PLACING SMALLER ORDERS DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE BOARDS.
To calculate board footage needed for your project use the following formula: Thickness in inches x width in inches x length in feet / 12 = Board Feet
You can also use the following website: http://extension.missouri.edu/scripts/explore/g05... Please also keep in mind a waste factor to add in for your project after calculating needed board footage. Waste factors can range from 10% - 35% depending on the size and scope of your project. For example, if you are making a small table that requires 20 board feet of material adding in a waste factor of 20% would bring your board footage up to 24 board feet of material or an additional 4 board feet.
